Being a bit technical but not totally I would like to set up the app mi3 on my phone.
Can you use WiFi
Do you need to connect the phone to the vehicle by wire
Does the phone show the relevant data only when the vehicle is in operation
Is there a video on how to set it up

To get started, install the app, then tap the connection icon in upper left corner:

Once you select the type of wireless adapter or OBD/Ethernet/adapter the message on the bottom will appear; iirc just select the one found and go back to general or other screen to see info populated. Also iirc I used screen caps to save my info.

Thanks I now realise I need a code reader in the obd port . This enables me to use my i phone to connect to vehicle.
Using the Mi3 app . The information presumably is only available when the vehicle is in use . The information available is interesting as I was told by bmw there was no method of determining the length of time the Rex had been used.
I only use the Rex when I need to ,I prefer to use the battery which is very economical when using off peak .
But no range anxiety which is great.

I seem to remember reading that the system does keep an internal hours of use count for the REX engine but since I’m non REX I’m not sure how to access that. Hope this or the BimmerLink app helps you out.
