Door Jam red light/lens?

Hello all; I bought my 2017 REX “Deca” in Sept and just now noticed the door jam red light/lens..lol
Can’t find any reference in any manuals to it. It doesn’t illuminate..is it simply a reflective “hazard” light (for if you open door on side of road at night)??

Yes, you can remove it very easily and see there is nothing behind it. At least there is nothing behind mine
