Can you recommend a new/recertified compressor? Self-install?

Been quoted £2,800+ for this in the UK. Does anybody know of an auto shop that can do this in the Midlands?

Yep, yesterday in fact. Very nice lady said they weren't yet doing A/C jobs, but were planning on it later this year. Car is driveable so I would have taken it to London if needs be.
I negotiated with local BMW dealer and they are now doing the repair for just under £2100. I don't think I would have saved much anywhere else apart from labour, as a new compressor is around £1300+ anyway.
