........ in the Netherlands.

I'm not sure if my translation engine has got this right, but it looks like all of the 500 BMW i3's allocated to the Netherlands are spoken for. Not sure if that’s 2013 production (which to be fair is only 2 months) or 2013 model year production. As one of the smallest new car markets in Europe (due to high vehicle taxes) I thought this was interesting.

I know that the dealer I'm dealing with has deposits for all their 2013 allocation.... so a bit like the Tesla S it sounds as if the i3 will be off to a flying start.

I wonder how many of the Active E drivers will move on to i3's?

BMW isn't going to set a limit on how many i3's they make. In fact I've spoken to many at BMW and they really want/need to sell as many as possible. I can't imagine there would be any kind of limit on i3's so I have to question this story. Now i8's may be a different story and I would think they do set a limit on the number they manufacturer (like 5,000/year or something like that). Part of the i8's allure is it's exclusivity so I would think BMW may limit the amount of them they make.

Many of the i3 drivers are interested, but until they get pricing and specifications it's hard to commit.

Hi Parker, being Dutch, I can confirm that your translation is right.

@Tom: I can imagine bmw cannot deliver more than 500 I3's in 2 months time. Of course they want to sell as many as possible, but 500 for NL is already quite something for such a small car market in 2 months.

Yes, I suppose that is possible since they won't be at full production initially at launch. I was really responding to the thought that perhaps BMW will ONLY send 500 cars to the Netherlands and that they were already all sold out. If you are in the Netherlands and want one, you'll certainly be able to buy one. You just may have to wait a few months longer for availability since it seems the entire 500 unit allotted for the initial delivery has apparently already been reserved. That must be music to BMW's ears!

After my testride in the active e, I'll be invited for the testdrives once they arrive at the dealer. BMW HQ NL is hyping the I3, which is great. Too bad, the lease on my current BMW still runs for four more years. But in 2017...:)
