Personally I would just go with a CPO. It is very rare, but if you are unlucky with your i3 drivetrain, you could be looking at a $10,000 repair bill out of warranty. CPO is easily available.

FYI this strategy only works for 2016 and older. In 2017 you can get most wheels with any world package.

It sounds like you are describing standard Bluetooth. There is no "CarPlay" button on iPhones. Maybe you are confusing AirPlay with CarPlay? Carplay also currently requires a physical Lightning cable connection.
