1. My wife's Audi has a SIM card (that can be removed/changed) to handle phone calls and act as a wifi hotspot. I understand BMW's SIM card is inaccessible for the SOS service, etc. but it should be usable as a regular phone and as a wifi hotspot (for an additional fee if need be).
2. The connected apps feature is pretty much worthless - unless you MUST have Pandora. The implementation of it feels kind of buggy and is definitely slow - even on a current gen iPad Air.
3. I like the trip information and the "scoring" system of the iRemote app - I would like the ability to offload this data using say...the BMW Connected ECO Pro Analyser app! Which is listed on Connected Drive as an available app, but it doesn't look like it works with the i3, at least I haven't figured out how to make it work.
4. If you're going to allow the mirrors to fold up, give me the option to automatically fold them up whenever I turn off the car. Perhaps I'm too lazy...
5. And yeah, enable the internet browser here in the US. I know it's just a gimmick and I'll never use it, but it's a cool toy.

They already have a hotspot option http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/technology/connecteddrive/2013/connectivity_technologies/index.html#hotspot

Not all options are available in all markets...I do not remember seeing that offered in the USA (but I'd have to check again). Another example, at least on some of the models, you can enable a TV show to play on the front display...not legal in the USA, so not offered. I don't see any legality issue on the hotspot, though.
