What to do with a carbon fibre tub?

Hi folks,

I've recently stripped an i3 down to the bare bones. Originally it had front impact and wasn't worth the airbag/bonnet etc repair so bit by bit it's been took apart and I'm trying to completely fill my garage by the looks.

That aside I now have tub sat on its wheels at the moment but that's the last job for a warmer day. I'm now left with the carbon and alloy tub but not sure what to do next. I thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone has any interesting ideas.

I suggested a chicken hut to my better half but after the look I got I think it's a no for that.

Any idea's?

I see, I'll do some pictures when the weather permits.

In a nutshell all the interior and all the external panels have been removed revealing the carbon tub, the battery has been dropped. At the minute it's sat on its wheels/suspension but once these have been removed then all that remains is the carbon tub sat on its alloy chassis.

The question is what to do with the cab/chassis.

I guess pretty much this, without the spacers (and soon to be without the suspension):

Just list and sell all the sound pieces of the i3 on Ebay.
You will be surprised at response.

I've listed the carbon fibre tub on ebay, no takers so far at £199 or best offer. I thought it would be snapped up but maybe not the best time of year to sell. I wonder how difficult it would be to separate the carbon from the alloy, anyone tried it?

I don't think there's any doubt that someone would buy it at £199 - simply as a donor for repair sections of the shell (whether anyone can safely bond in a repair section is another matter).

As you say, the time of year doesn't help much. But I was surprised that I could not find your listing on Ebay UK - the only body that I could find - either active or completed - is in Lithuania!

[Edit: Ok, found it - you used the term "shell". It has watchers, so I would guess it will go fairly quickly at that price.]

I haven't, but I hope it would be very hard indeed. The main Youtube video on the i3's construction doesn't seem to show the marriage (or perhaps it does and I was looking in the wrong place) but I think the life module is entirely bonded to the chassis - so if you can get the two apart without completely destroying the carbon fibre part, I would be very surprised.

Thanks for your response, yes it has a couple of watches now but no enquiries, perhaps others in my position. I've added words like chassis and life module. Out of interest what words do you think searches will enter to find something like this.

My brain was probably too heavily influenced by the thread here so I was looking for "carbon fibre" and "tub", but chassis, shell, etc is probably good enough. I don't have any doubt it will sell, but time of year and current weather conditions will slow things a bit.
