There is a little hook at the top of the flap itself - visible top right in your picture (hook is top left inside of the flap).
On ICE models there is a similar mechanism with a peg and a hole which works pretty well. So I was used to that concept.
However on inspection I couldn't find a matching hook on the plug to make it stay hooked up. There is a small increase in the edge molding at one point which sort of works but it kept falling off. Maybe thinking about it you are just supposed to hang the connecting cord on that little hook - maybe that works?
Just wondering if the little notch in your cover is also mean to sit over that hook? I am sure on the demo model there wasn't a notch at that point? Interesting...
I feel we have reached a tipping point. Just so mad that I have to wait the whole summer and autumn. There'll be jams at the chargepoints by the time I get going.
Agreed. They should have taken out a leaf from the Nissan book (sorry, couldn't resist!) and had a hinged stable-door arrangement (for the CCS) with proper sealing.
Yes, it's poor design, I've got to agree, alas. The whole ensembe: the far to large, non-sealing flap, the plastic caps and the rubber 'string' thingy. I've pulled the string from the car and the flaps on day 1. We keep the cap in the froot: cable out = cap in and vice versa.
I have to admit, it had me scratching my head for a while also. But after playing with it for a bit I figured it out. This picture need to be sent to every BMW i3 dealer and handed to the sales associates so they can show their clients at delivery.
