I'm honestly not trying to wind everyone up, but I'm amazed mine arrived a week ago and no-one else has theirs yet. I'd love to know how mine made it through the blockade so early.

All I can say is, it'll be worth the wait if you can be patient, it's a fantastic little car that's a hoot to drive. Sorry there are delays for everyone though, that's very tedious.

You obviously got the RHD training day car - I hope they torqued the bolts OK!

(not really :p )

Did anyone else go to the launch event in London?
I went to the What Car Drivers Panel which was held one day after the official launch at the same Thameside venue.. Excellent evening with lots of wine! I had already placed an unofficial deposit with my dealer a couple of weeks before and still the car hasn't arrived!

Andy, that's great to hear  I ordered my Rex early Nov - I should have realised the length of the queue before me... hats off to the trailblazers. Just keep us up to speed on living with your i3 - it really helps during the wait. Roll on end of May
Haha - I was asking the dealers before they'd had training on them ;) Did anyone else go to the launch event in London?

I was invited to a launch event in Guilford, but unfortunately couldn't make it, so I had to wait a couple of weeks before test driving and ordering. I didn't realise the the Rex would take longer to deliver - damn my pre-ownership range anxiety.

BTW anyone in the South East, I have been encouraging my local council to put in a community charging point and in my discussions learnt that there is to be a network of chargers to be rolled out across the south east - some will be 30 min rapid chargers.

Yeah the dealers had their own individual launch events in November - I was referring to the one on 1st August :)

I was told the REX would take longer right from August - plus I test drove an ActiveE and the BMW rep said that most people would opt for the REX and never use it, which on top of the electric range and performance convinced me BEV was the way to go! I think BMW were expecting more of the orders to be REX (around 80%?) but from posts on this forum and the delays I would imagine that a higher percentage are BEVs than anticipated.

Hopefully that applies to us - although I think we're actually just "south" over here. The number of chargers in the UK should start to take off this year if the demand for the i3 continues to grow :D

Have just heard that my week 52 car has now made in onto UK shores and will be delivered to my dealer on Sunday. Have been invited to sneak a pre-PDI peak on Sunday whilst I finish up the paperwork, and I am hoping that I should therefore be able to pick up the keys early next week.

Good news, please post your first impressions when you get the keys.

Cheers

I have a missed call from the dealership today "good news about your i3" so I'm hoping that mine will be the same as yours! Exciting!

Congrats all! Anyone up for a meeting? :)

Not sure how accurate this is but Dealer said:

If i order now delivery will be after Sept 2014.

Also no Pro-nav even though it's still in list prices as such and brochures.

Having asked to be put on test drive waiting list since August 2013, tis a shame that "later test drive customers" have to pay £900 or so to on top of list price.

Apparently UK dealers been told not to sell demo cars (they belong to BMW not dealer) until at least Spring 2015 to uphold resale values.

Still I have at least now driven both the Rex and BEV in the past week and that has been an eye opener.
Congrats all! Anyone up for a meeting? :)
It would be fun to meet up but would need to work out logistics carefully- mine's a BEV and I am about 22 miles north of Central London which reminds me that I must apply for the Congestion Charge exception as soon as the car arrives!

Mine has also slipped. It was built week 2, was originally scheduled for week 4 delivery, then week 5, now it's week 6.
...and now it's pushed back to week 7.

Does anyone know what's causing the slippages?

I think the forecasts are unreliable.

My week 52 car was originally week 2, then 3, then 5. Now I pick it up tomorrow which is early week 4.

Enjoy yourself tomorrow. My car was delivered to my dealer today and I was kindly invited to view it in its shrink wrapped state. Very very pleased I ordered Solar Orange!. I am away next week so won't get to pick it up until Monday 3rd.

Tomorrow is late week 4 or early week 5 isn't it?
