Hi all,

We're purchasing a used i3s from a BMW dealer and being offered tyre insurance at a cost of £454 for 4 years, normally I wouldn't be interested but have read the i3 is quite susceptible to punctures and given the narrow width tyres are often non repairable.
The cover pays for puncture repairs and replacement tyres if not repairable - any thoughts on whether this is a good deal?

many thanks
Barry

Isn’t that about the price of 2 new tires? I haven’t heard of tire puncture issues here in the US, but know that you have different tire options and roads in the UK(?).

You’ll also likely wear out at least one set of tires during 4 years, so it’s worthwhile to check if any contract prorates payment according to tire wear, covers replaced tires, etc.

Personally I found the ancillary coverages like windshield repair and tire repair offered to me when I bought my CPO didn’t seem to offer much value. Dealer cost on them in the US is probably 50% of the offer price so there is room for lots of discounting if you decide you want it.

Thanks for your thoughts Mondomensch
