Hi peeps

This might sound really stupid but what happens if an i3 is caught in traffic that isn't showing on the connected drive map ? if you're in standstill traffic for a long time surely it will completley drain the Litium-ion battery ?
My BEV andesite silver with Loft interior is due to be delivered on Wednesday :D but have to say im getting anxious at what problems the above may create :?

Many Thanks

Mark

I have a REX and it shuts off at stop lights or in stop and go traffic. Once you pull away and get up to 5 or 6 mph it comes back on and resumes charging. It makes me wonder if it would do the same when nearly discharged as opposed to still having 6% or so SOC. If so then it could run down to nothing.......

Just another reason to be angry about our inhibited RExs.

The BEV does, obviously, still use energy when sitting still and on to run things like the radio, instruments, lights, HVAC system, etc. If the battery level gets too low, it will give you a warning before it runs out, and as it approaches that level, it will also shut down various systems to let you keep going, at least to the side of the road if you ignore things too long. It's a bit more graceful about it than an ICE when it runs out of fuel. You do have an energy gauge, and when it gets to near zero, you really need to look for a recharging opportunity.

If you have the REx, it won't leave you stranded as long as you have fuel in the tank. Now, depending on what you're asking the car to do, it may or may not have enough power to do it, but it will still move. RUn out of that and run the batteries down, and like any vehicle, you'll be stuck on the road. The REx, for the most part, does not try to recharge the batteries, but to try to maintain them where they currently are. If things are really depleted, it does bump it up some.

Hey Mark. .

I have 6k on my BEV and all my anxious worry sion dissappeared...

Compared to driving the car forward the other systems on the car take little power, and if your on a journey stretching the range then turn a few things down or off in the jam...

I have sat in jams on the m4 uk on my 74 mile journey .. jams which add an hour or more the the journey time and have barely noticed and depreciation in range.

If your getting tight then drive a little slower makes huge difference.. ie 55mph can average 5.7 miles per kwh, where 70mph would only give you around 3.5 miles per kwh.

You'look soon get to know your bev and learn how to manipulate all the variables to get where your going...

Have fun, enjoy and relax... neil.

Thanks guys :)
I'm still shocked due to being given a estimated delivery of early December to then being given this Wednesdsay as the actual delivery !
In no way am I complaining lol but it's so strange preparing for December delivery then being told it's next week
I suppose that because it's coming earlier than expected, it's now a reality that i'm actually going to have an i3 !!!
That's why i'm all of a sudden worrying about range etc, just a few pre delivery nerves I think

My i3 is Adesite Silver, Loft Interior, Pro Nav, Harmon Kardon, Drive Assist, Park Assist, Sunroof, Rapid Charge Prep, Internet, Cold Weather Prep, Winter Pack, 428 Tyres, LED Headlights, Comfort Access, Enhanced Bluetooth.

Excited is not quite the word I'd use !

Mark :)
