Hey all!
So I bought a 2016 i3 rex about 3 months ago. It started when a couple random times I'd start it up and the clock would need to be reset. Didn't think too much of it until after getting off a 13 hour shift the fob wouldnt unlock it. Pulled out the key to get in and it was just dead, like nothing turned on. Sat there with the door open for around 15 minutes when it just powered back up with the alarm going off. Next day the engine light was on so I checked it and pulled a p1bf3 code "timer/clock performance error" Now I'm mainly worried it might randomly turn off while I'm driving it. Any ideas before I have to spend a day off taking it to the dealership?

But everything came back on and I drove it home and I've driven it since then. Or is that because the main batteries charged and the 12v isn't powering something it needs to? Sorry, first ev. Still figuring out how they work..

The clock reset is what happens when the 12v battery is disconnected and then reconnected. I strongly suspect that you have a loose battery terminal connection on the 12v battery. That would also explain why the car appeared to be “dead”, but then came back to life

Would the error code be linked to that? I'll go double check the connections to make sure. Thanks!

The 12V system powers all kinds of things. When the 12V battery on my newly acquired (used) i3 started failing, DC fast charging was acting up, but it started working again just fine for a while. What you are experiencing sounds exactly like what I was seeing when I first got my i3 (also my first electric car), and I was equally freaked out and puzzled. A new 12V battery fixed it all.

(In case you are just somewhat skilled in working on your car and want to give that a try - there are good YouTube videos showing how to replace it - make sure you disable the high voltage system first).
