Greetings from Lansing, Michigan

In the market for an i3; will consider most everything at lower cost: under $5k

At this low of a price point I'm certainly open to projects; ie: any that suffered catastrophic AC failure, in need of a battery swap, motor mounts, wrecked, etc...

Yes to REX; as we plan to use this primarily as our local commuter but also want the option of taking it for periodic longer travels up to the UP "Upper Peninsula" of Michigan without having to stop to charge up.

Look forward to learning about these unique vehicles from all of you,

Currently driving a comparable sized i-miev as our local commuter car and a 02' TDI Golf for our longer road trips to the North Country; researching the potential to consolidate to a single vehicle for ALL of our travel needs...

Update - We've purchased a 14' REX with 88k for under $6k thanks to the %30 tax incentive via Key Savvy.

Included an add'l full set of 5" wheels with 155's on ALL (4) corners/rotatable.

I also have a full set (4) 175/60/r17 tires that are available for anyone who's kept the staggered rear 5.5" wide wheels.

For what it's worth, BMW installed staggered wheels on all 2014 REx's whereas 5" wheels were installed front and rear on 2014 Mega World BEV's (lowest trim level). The reason that 2014 Mega World REx's didn't have 5" wheels front and rear like the BEV model must have been the additional ~300 lb. of weight of the REx system, most of which is supported by the rear tires. Maybe at maximum gross weight, 5" tires would be overloaded. However, BMW sells winter tires sets on 5" wheels front and rear for all i3's, so maybe overloading the rear tires isn't a problem.

A safer alternative would be to install your 175 mm tires front and rear. If a tire store would mount them on 5" wheels, spacers wouldn't be needed in the front as they would be were 5.5" rear wheels mounted in front.
