Similar to the original poster, I've had my BEV for 10 months. Drove 3700 miles with the original programming. Took it in for the first time (delivery was May 2014) on March 14 for the KLE update. The car I picked up six days later definitely feels different. The new regen pattern is much worse for my driving conditions. I rarely leave SF proper so the vast majority of my driving is low speed, up and down steep hills, and full stops every block. I wouldn't go so far as to say the car is ruined but I definitely prefer the original.
The software update also rendered my navigation system unable to locate any charging stations. It attempts a search but after several minutes reports no results could be found at my current location. When I noticed this the day after picking up the car, I chalked it up to a network error. But the behavior hasn't changed over the past five days. This morning, as I sat parked and ready to charge at a ChargeNow (BMW partner) station, it still reported no stations nearby. The location was visible, even showing availability status, in the i Remote app so it's clearly a fault in the car.
Frustrated, I used the iDrive to call BMW customer relations. The i3 specialist I spoke with suggested I try updating BMW Assist over the air to fix the navigation issue. That didn't work so I've already contacted my dealer about taking it in again. In addition, the i3 specialist said she'd note my concerns but indicated I'm the first to complain about the regen changes. Have any of you other US customers registered complaints with BMW NA, not just your local dealer? I doubt it will do any good but we should go on record at least as being unhappy.
