Question on battery capacity

Does the hidden menu 13.08 "Batt. Kapa. max" show the usable battery size or the full capacity?

I snoop around today, and found mind only got 16.7 kWh! From 18.8 kWh, that would be a 11% degradation after only 1.5 year use. Should I get ready for a warranty claim?

That is the usable (relative) capacity. Absolute is ~22 kWh.

The figure in the display varies in my BEV, likely because of ambient temperature, driving technique, and who knows what else. And the usable "Kapa." increased after some of the software updates this year. I think it would be premature to file a warranty claim.

Warranty replacement is triggered at less than 70% of 'new' capacity. Plus, as has been said, the indication varies based on various conditions, and if you were to check it again tomorrow, it might show a different value. It might be possible to have one bad module, and that could be replaced, if necessary.

There's a reason why BMW doesn't advertise how to get into the service menus...interpreting them takes some training, and people can freak out for no reason if there's something there they don't understand in context.

For sure not a claim for now. But I'm just surprise 11% drop after just 1.5 year. If this rate continues, it won't be long before crossing the 30% mark. Hopefully, it is as suggested affected by temperature. Will check again in a warmer day.

Probably a software issue. Several owners in Germany reported that after a software update suddenly max capa was much lower.
My max capa ( may 2014 REx, 15.000 miles ) has never been below 19.0 kWh even in winter. Highest ever was 19.9, and I saw 19.8 when I looked 7th october.

I may be a result of reflashing the memory and it may take a bit of time for the history and status to be rebuilt to give an accurate indication.
