Missing cover for Rex?

Hoping that someone on here can help me figure out if I'm loosing my mind. I could have sworn when I first got my i3 there was a grill like cover over the exhaust unit for the Rex. But when I looked today I don't see anything. Is it possible it could have fallen off or am I like Brian Williams and I'm just misremembering?

Just checked mine and no cover - can't see any fittings for a cover either.

No cover over the exhaust. I can confirm it from taking a ton of them apart
