My I3 won't refresh to my phone anymore. It is becoming a bit of an issue as I rely on the remote app to inform me when I have completed my charge. BMW has been very limited in helping out with this issue. I have had my dealership resend my application , I have changed my user account. Still my screen shows my last update at over a month ago. Anybody else having this issue?

One potential issue I can think of is that your car doesn't get a data signal to communicate with BMW servers. Has the problem happened in different places? Could it be affected by the mobile (cell) data signal strength in your area.

Maybe something worth checking out.

If you're a U.S. i3er, here's a checklist from the Facebook i3 files section.

"Troubleshooting iRemote issues (USA)

From least severe to most severe: At your own risk!

Note: Do not go to bmw-connecteddrive.com as there is no USA access.

Check the iDrive to make sure you still have the BMW Assist and internet options under the Connected Drive menu. If you see "Service not enabled or Contract Expired" contact your salesperson to have them reinstate your services in their computer. Mine unexpectedly expired on exactly my 9 month anniversary of having the car and all the menu options disappeared. SoS representative referred me back to my salesperson and were unable to help. Once my salesperson entered it in the computer, everything reappeared and my app started working again on it's own.

1. Force quit and reopen the app.
2. Delete the app and reinstall it on your phone.
3. Press the SoS button on the overhead console and ask the rep to unlock your account. They might reset your password. They might tell you that it takes 15 mins but just tell them to wait while you try it.
4. Press SoS button and ensure your account is properly set up.
5. Press SoS button and ask representative to edit your account to ensure there is only ONE name and ONE email associated with your account. Have them remove all others.
6. Ensure the GPS check box is enabled in the iDrive.
7. Go into iDrive menu in car > Connected Drive > BMW Assist > Option Button (next to round idrive knob) > Update Service.
8. Go to dealer and ask for them to reset the TCB (Telematics Communication Box) located under the rear seat cushion.
9. Pull fuse #115 for a few minutes to reset the TCB yourself. Instructions for locating fuse box is in owner's manual, page 191. Verify that the car is off and not plugged in before pulling the fuse."

In the last 9-months, I've ended up power cycling the telecommunications module 3x. Nothing BMW did could make it work from reloading, forcing an update, resetting the account. FWIW, if the app does not show the current distance traveled for more than a day or two, the car has stopped talking to the server - it's not your device that is hung up. I do not know what causes it to get lost in that loop, but it does work if you reset things by power cycling. That should be your last choice, but once you've done it once, it's quick and easy.

A huge thank you to all the replies.
Will be looking for fuse #115 in the AM!

will post an update tomorrow on the results.

Well,

Happy days are upon us. I'm pretty sure I cried a little.

Popping out Fuse # 115, waiting a bit, then putting it back in, followed by deleting the app, downloading it (which I had tried many, many times before popping out the fuse) logging in and...

IT WORKED!

Just so you can appreciate why the app is valuable; (which I'm sure everyone already does).

Yesterday I did my 40KM commute, arriving at the office with 48KM left of battery, plugged in when I arrived at work, and went about my day. When I left , I unplugged the car, got in, started it up... and had 48KM left of battery. I had turned on the "charge at off peak hours', so the car never charged. (I would normally check my app during the day)

So, 40KM to home, 48KM of charge. Oh yeah, that can be a bit hard on the heart.

Made it home with 5KM left of battery life.

Still loving my 'i3.
Thanks to all the people that replied, very much appreciated.

FWIW, you probably did not have to reload the app...but, it can take a few minutes for the module to reboot and then establish communications to the server...so, the results are not immediate. Glad it worked for you. Now, hope BMW figures out why this is happening so we do not need to reboot any part of the car to get it to work! That module is one of few that doesn't really ever get shut down...at least some of the other computers in the car do shut down when you turn it off, but not that one, which, I think, is why it gets lost sometimes.

Slight bump here:

Does the car only send updates to the server when it's been turned off? Can BMW halt the updates while it's in for service?

Ask because I had to drop mine off 2 days ago and, per the app, it hasn't moved since the afternoon I left it. Between that and not hearing from the rep, it seems the car is sitting, which is annoying when I want to get it back instead of the ICE loaner they game me. Rep told me at drop-off that it'd be 2-3 days cause HQ wants to be thorough when i3s come in, but if it's just been sitting, he was BS-ing me (not shocked) and I'm going to find a new rep.

I'm not sure what actually triggers the i3 to send an update. But, you could try to send it a remote 'flash the lights' command, and doing something like that seems to force updates on all current status. I know I did check mine once while in for service, and it showed up inside the building when I checked its position on the map page.

I just found this thread and am having similar issues. Just got the i3 and I can log in and see the position and status of car, but trying to send any commands results in "Remote Services deactivated. The remote services are currently deactivated for your vehicle. Please visit///" 1/2 the time, and when it works the only button/option is "Preconditioning." Obviously I have checked and even when calling in everything shows active/

I have my i8 on the same account and it has NO issues. They have had me do all the stupid tricks (delete the app, log out, log in, change password, make sure you have a security question). But none of it has resolved this. Will try some of the suggestions listed here, but has anyone had anything like this?

Thanks.
