I had the reversing camera replaced a couple of months ago on my approved used 2019 i3. My local dealership wouldn't replace it under warranty claiming the blurred image was due to external abrasion of the lens. Looked all the world like water ingress to me but that is bye the bye now. However, over the last couple of weeks I have started getting intermittent warning messages saying reversing camera failure. In fact the imge remains clear but the tramlines disappear. Switching the car off and on again usally restores the lines or it may spontaneously fix itself while driving. This behaviour would suggest a poor connection somewhere. Can anyone adivise if this is likely to be within the camera unit itself or are the tramlines generated within a separate unit elsewhere? It would be helpful to know before I take the car back to my local dealership as my warranty expires in a few weeks.
