Hi

Currently on the 7 day complimentary insurance. BMW quoted £438 for me....but only got 2 years no claims (been out of the country for some time before that) + always in company cars over last 10yrs+ (never had claim though).....anyway can any UK I3ers recommend good price/insurance company?

I'm with Privilege, had 9 Months left on a policy for a Nissan Qashqai and it was an extra £6 + fees. That would make an annual equivalent of around £250 - that is for 2 drivers with business use (Not Motor trade) and full no claims.

I take delivery of my REx this week so been looking for insurance as I sold my MINI Cooper S a few weeks ago.

Following up on comments made on this thread I called BMW Insurance (Allianz) who quoted me £264 pa including legal protection, NCD (13yrs) protection, driving other cars, total (no voluntary) Excess only £150.

The only major insurer who could beat this after looking on comparision sites and getting quotes from Aviva, Zurich and Direct Line was Direct Line but BMW Insurance offer specific i3 policy and I thought there were too many potential pitfalls with Direct Line (and others) such as additional Excess for not using their nominated repairer. With BMW Insurance in the event of an accident "all repairs would be carried out at a BMW Approved Bodyshop using only Genuine BMW Parts guaranteeing the quality of the workmanship for the lifetime of the vehicle". Seemed to me to me a no risk no brainer. Policy seems to be comprehensive. Recommended.

The only drawback I found with BMW’s I3 specific insurance was there insistence for a tracker to prove I kept to the mileage limit. I said no and they then said I could have their normal insurance for the same price!
