Hi, guys. After 10 years in the Florida sun, my headliner has sagged to the point where I need to change it. The only information I can find anywhere on the Internet concerning the removal of the panel is a brief description on this site from jelloslug over nine years ago. I have removed everything without breaking anything critical - I count this as a minor miracle - but am stumped by the overhead console. He said "The roof console snaps in; you remove the tan plastic piece first and then using a flat screwdriver you release the attachment clips on the leading edge." OK, I popped off the plastic panel, but I can't see any evidence of attachment clips (I presume leading edge means at the front of the car). Do I have to remove the clear panel covering the lights? And, if so, how to do this without breaking anything.
I must admit to finding working on the interior of the car - any car! - among one of the most frustrating things to do. As an added bonus, you feel particularly stupid when, after a couple of hours futzing about to no avail, the solution turns out to be remarkably simple.
Anyway, if anyone knows how to do this, please let me know.
Thanks.

Success!
I noticed that the wires to the microphone connector were very short, and had made a mental note to attach a string or wire to pass through the hole to be able to snag it after assembly. Lo and behold, when I dropped the headliner, the 'tool' in the second image was impressed into it - some assembly tech must have misplaced it on the production line. I wonder how many of them were lost like that!
In the interest of giving back to the community, does anyone want me to photograph anything while it is exposed?

I’d love to know how you will be repairing. New headliner? Or are you going to recover it? I’ve seen others recover them and they look great, not convinced it’s something I want to do though.
