Hello, I'm wondering if I may be overlooking something. My manual mentions there is an option to select "Logic 7 Surround" under Multimedia, tone, etc.. settings but I cannot seem to find it. I did pay the extrta 800 for the Harmon Kardon speakers and do have them installed. Is this possibly a misprint in the manual?

I did play around with the multimedia settings on a test car with the premium system and would assume by the lack of option it is activated by default if you have the Harmon Kardon system.

me too, but then again the manual mentions the ability to use an equalizer but I lack that ability as well.

The system is based around Logic 7 surround. It is possible to adjust the bass, mids, and treble which is effectively what an equalizer is. This should be helpful:

Thanks for the help.. I did find those options, I don't know... I was expecting a bit more I guess. It doesn't really sound like surround sound to me in the car but I'm no expert. Was just hoping to figure out a way to actually confirm that its enabled in the car. i.e. not turned off somehow due to a bug.

No, you basically get what you get as far is sound processing is concerned but if it's any consolation the Harman Kardon system is night and day compared to the standard system. In fact it is probably my favorite factory system I've ever heard in a car.

Misprint or the software controls were changed after the manual was printed. The Logic 7 and equalizer functions are not mentioned in the U.S. Driver's Guide e-manual as of today.

For what it's worth, there has been confusion over a few options that work one way in mainstream BMW models but have different features/functions in the i. models. Early collateral from various BMW operating units essentially copied and pasted the mainstream descriptions. I've seen the Logic 7 toggle and software graphic equalizer in a friend's 3-series. I'm guessing those features didn't translate into the i3 because of the way the sound system was designed to balance output with energy efficiency.

The manual has lots of errors and the HK system does leave a little to be desired. Still better than only having only front speakers without HK!
