Since I bought the car from WA state and shipped it to CA I had to get it smogged as part of the registration. Went to my local smog guy, he had no idea where to start. I told him, plug your machine into the OBD2 port and see what happens. I started the engine in "emission mode" and he clicked through the screens and it passed. Here is the link to put the car in emission mode. The battery must be below 75% charge.
