Hi all,

For the life of me I can't get my genie master transmitter to work with the home link.

I've cleared the settings by pressing the 1 and 3 buttons until blinks rapidly.

But then no matter how long I hold both buttons,or how close I hold the remote to the rear view mirror, I never get a blinking light on the mirror to tell me the two are connected!

The remote works fine on the door.

Any advice?

Thanks!

From the manual
“If the LED does not flash faster after at least 60 seconds, change the distance between the interior rearview mirror and the hand-held transmitter and repeat the step. Several more attempts at different distances may be necessary. Wait at least 15 seconds between attempts.”
I would start really close and then gradually move the transmitter away a few inches.

But then no matter how long I hold both buttons
And to be clear, holding both buttons clears them all. You then only have to hold the one button on the mirror while pressing the button on the garage-door transmitter.

The car's logic is compatible with most modern openers, but if yours is really old, it may not work. What color LED does the working remote have?

And after roughly 45 seconds when pressing both the #1 and the garage open button, the light instead of blinking just goes out on the rear view mirror

I know that the car's remote will work with the openers using a yellow indicator light...not sure it will work with the older red/green ones at all.

Depending on the actual security of your garage door opener, you may need to do an additional step. Try this:
