I knew for a while that the Folkestone side of the Eurotunnel check-in had a (currently free) CCS charger, provided by ChargeYourCar (CYC). However I just spotted that there is also a CCS charger on the Calais side available now. Does anyone know whether an RFID card (CYC?) is required on the Calais side? Open Charge Map has no further details, but PlugShare has some gallery pictures. Can't wait to use these!

www.ccs-map.eu shows the charger but not who runs it.

Brice, one of the contributors on this forum, has set up http://www.i-bmw.fr and may be able to help.

Thanks.

I also contacted CYC (who are the provider of the Folkestone charger, which is free to use, but requires a CYC RFID card) and they couldn't tell me anything about the Calais side. Apparently the charger works without any card or ID.

I see if I can get a confirming response from Eurotunnel themselves, as it is important to know.

I've just had an email reply from Eurotunnel, clarifying the situation re their CCS chargers and whether RFID cards are required or not. See below:

Thank you for your email.

We can confirm, the universal DBT quick chargers (with blue parking bays) in France are free for Eurotunnel customers. They do not require any RFID cards or specific code to be activated. It is a Plug & Charge system. Customers just have to follow the instructions on the LCD control screen.

The universal DBT quick chargers in UK are also free. However they require CYC network or Energize network RFID cards to be activated. We will have soon spare RFID card available at the Customer Service & Ticket Desk in the Victor Hugo terminal building for people who are not members of these networks.

Hope this clarifies it.
