Hi - on i3 94ah 2018 model which has recently been supplied and serviced, is it possible to reset the Vehicle Check reminder?
The car has been serviced as all Vehicle inspection, Brake Fluid and Engine oil appear to be reflect dates in 2021/22 except for Vehicle Check which says August 2020.

I understand there is a method via long/short pushes of the trip re-set button. Will this reset the Vehicle Check without messing up the other intervals?

Thanks - this seems like a superb forum.

You can scroll through the various items, and it won't affect anything else.

TO get there, do not press the brake pedal from off, then, hit the start button.
Press the button on the left side of the driver's display until a menu comes up. Short presses to get to the item you want to reset, then a long press. It will ask you to confirm. This is from memory, and I think I've got it all right, but it's pretty straight-forward.

Note, some stuff can be updated from the i-drive menu, like if you have a state safety inspection. There, just change the date like any other i-drive input.

If it was done at a decent service center, they should have done this for you...

Really helpful, thanks. The car came from BMW approved main dealer stock, but obviously this still got missed. All the other service dates seem fine.
I’ll await the warning which should arrive during August and will try the reset. Otherwise, I’ll get onto the dealership I bought the car from and they can do it for free...!!

Hi there, new to the forum,

I have tried to reset the Inspection date in the iDrive settings (as the MOT has been completed at an indy garage) and the app still says the MOT is due, even though the car says the new date? I am confused. Does the dealer have another setting they need to reset?

Thanks,
David

The ‘state safety inspection’ date and in the UK the ‘Vehicle Inspection’ (AKA MOT) can be reset from in the iDrive. Just press on the date. I think that does it.

Hi Gonville, thank you for the reply, I tried this and the date on the car changes, but not the date on the MyBMW app. So on the app screen it says "1 issue detected" and that links to the "Vehicle inspection date" being passed.

I suspect that the BMW dealer has other options they can tick, I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and knew a way to reset it on the app.

Thanks,
David

Hi, I've also got this exact problem having just reset it in the car the app still shows it's due!

Hopefully you found out how to reset it? 🙏

Hi there,

In the end I didn't find a way to reset it. About 2 days after the MOT (annual safety inspection) the app reset itself!! The date in the car and on the app are now correct. And to be 100% clear the MOT was done by my local garage, not BMW and I am not sure they have access to the BMW system. They might have, but I never asked.

I tried this and it doesn't change the date displayed on the myBMW app, so the in car display is OK, but it comes up with an error message for the car on the app home screen.

It seems there can be a substantial delay for certain i3 car status updates to be sent to the BMW web servers, from where the app gets its information.

For example, I often get spurious alerts of things like hatch or door open in my app when it’s been closed for some time since I got out of the car. The car at times (maybe when not in use) does not update the servers and the app just shows data from the servers. Manually refreshing in the app just queries the servers again but does not force the car to update the servers.

I’m not sure how to remotely force the car to update the servers with all current statuses.
