Hi Guys,

I have a 2015 BMW REX i am planning to replace the battery of my car, i would like to know recommendations:

I want to higher the size of the battery up to 42.2kwh, is this doable? Any recommendations where to find it? Any recommended process or step to the process?

Regards

It has been done but requires special knowledge that only a few mechanics seem to have (@mojo's Czech Republic reference). Installing a used 94 Ah battery pack is apparently easier.

The limiting factor might be the cost of a 120 Ah battery pack. The new cost would be far higher than the value of your i3. Finding a used 120 Ah battery pack that hasn't been deactivated as a result of a collision seems to be difficult. Reactivating can be done assuming no internal damage, but expensive equipment is required. The total cost of a used 120 Ah battery pack might also be more than your i3 is worth considering the purchase cost, shipping (it's heavy), testing, and installation.
