I’m considering a used BMW i3 94Ah and wondering how I can perform an analysis of the battery via the OBD2 port. Does anyone have tips for an iPhone app that can retrieve data about battery health?

Tips for apps that can retrieve general fault codes for the i3 via the OBD2 port are also greatly appreciated!

Thank you! Does it work with all/most types of OBD2 adapters or do i need some "pre approved" adapters for the app?

I don't recall the mi3 app requiring particular OBD adapters. However, mi3 appears to poll the i3 for each datum and waits for it to be returned so it can be displayed. It's possible that a very slow OBD adapter could respond too slowly such that mi3 times out waiting.

If you have an OBD adapter, try it first. If it doesn't work well (i.e., time-outs, disconnects, etc.), the relatively inexpensive Vgate iCar 2 OBD to WiFi adapter has worked well for me for 7 years with mi3, BimmerCode, BimmerLink, and eFlow.
