i'm trying to upgrade my maps on my 2017 i3. i have all the files downloaded on a USB stick and i've plugged it in straight to the vehicle. The vehicle detects that there is a newer version of maps available and then it looks like i'm stuck at the FSC code entry. is anyone out there able to generate a FSC code for me? thanks in advance...

Years ago, I bought a lifetime FCS code offered on some Website for a very reasonable price. I used it to update the maps in our 2014 i3 twice each year for 7 years without any problems. Unfortunately, I have no record of the Website URL, but searching the Internet should find some choices.

Could you please provide info on how to download the latest maps? Thanks.

You can check our website. It's in our signature. Which map version do you have?
*edit - links now working.

The links in the page all redirect to an admin Shopify account requiring sign in to access. Even the tools you provide (like VIN lookup) are impossible to use.
The lack of maintaining the website comes off a bit suspicious...

Hi, there is nothing wrong with the website. No idea what links you are trying but all the links including the vin decoder works as it should.

my vehicle is nearly 6 years old and the sat/ nav was showing its age with new areas not showing up so I invested £79 in a bmw upgrade, carried out over the air as bmw said. Unfortunately it did not work and I was refunded my £79 and advised to go to a dealership for the upgrade £179 . I now rely on a external sat/nav actually it’s better than the original which was dangerously inaccurate.

My understanding is that the over the air map updates are essentially just a “delta” of differences from the installed full base map. The older the base map version, the more differences, and at some point the number/size of the differences exceeds the capacity of the over the air process.

I have successfully updated my base maps in my 2020 i3 and X3 systems using maps purchased from online vendors on USB sticks along with the appropriate code. As Automan notes, it’s more expensive than the ota update subscription, but at least can be done at home by the owner simply by plugging the supplied USB stick into the car’s usb port. Further updates can then be done via ota process.

Of course, as noted, phone or stand alone gps mapping may be as good or better for many.
