Still trying to get the hang of things with the NAV system. Once I am at the NAV map screen, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to scroll through those icons on the left of the map. Just info icon on the bottom is lit, but the others, I do not know how to scroll to them. Can't figure it out even after reading the manual on the NAV system. The other thing is when I make my route, it is auto selected to Fast and I'd like to try that eco option for a route and can't figure out how to change that.

Any tips would be appreciated!

"Click" the iDrive controller to the left to access those icons, spin the controller to select the icon you want. I believe the choice you're looking for is called route preferences, then select alternative route (sorry I'm not near the car, so don't have the exact choices in front of me).

Also, since it appears you're in Atlanta, consider joining the local FB group - you'll get quick answers there to questions like this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/atlbmwevowners/

i3atl is correct. When you're on the Map, click to the left to access the menu of icons.

Instructions can be found in the Driver's Guide app. Enter "Route Criteria" as the search term. Path is:

Navigation > Map > Routes > Route preferences

Note that the preference is stored in the key fob/profile active at the time.

If your destination is active already, you can see other options by selecting Route Alternatives rather than preferences.

I like the voice commands when fiddling with the Nav. Helps me keep eyes ahead.

Push the voice control button on the steering wheel, and you'll get an audible prompt.
Say "route preference."
You'll get a prompt for a road choice.
Say the road type.

And you're on your fast/short/eco way.

I guess I'll try that because I for the life of me cannot figure out how to click to the left as silly as that sounds. It was driving me nuts.

Physically pull the iDrive controller/knob to the left (towards the driver's seat).

I had the same issue: this is my first exposure to the iDrive controller and I was pressing down on the side arrows on the controller. It took a few days of frustration before I learned to shove the thing sideways in the direction of the arrow....... Dopey me...... :D

You would not believe how many times I have pressed down on one of the side arrows… lol

Amazing when I move the whole controller to the side and it moves haha.

Thanks i3atl! haha
