Hello Everyone,
Would really appreciate if anyone can help. I have a client with 2016 BMW i3 that purchase the vehicle without an infotainment display. He installed the smaller 6.5" variant. Decoding his VIN shows that it's supposed to be the large 10.5" display. (Professional) option S609. I'm pretty familiar with performing retrofits on BMWS and factory upgrades/downgrades. I used AUTEL MAXISYS ULTRA to modify the vehicle order delete option S609 and add option S606 (Business) this should be the correct option for the smaller screen. 6.5" I then proceeded to recode the Headunit (HUH) to the vehicle order and I verified coding with BIMMERCODE found that the settings in coding have been changed at DISPLAY SIZE RESOLUTION to 6.5 (800x480) and DISPLAY VARIANT schmales display. This is the correct coding for the screen but I still get no display and fault code B7F8CA - CID: Version not compatible. Client says he plugged this into his friends car and confirmed the display is a working display. Does anybody have any insight or experience performing this retrofit?

Thank you to anyone that can help!

I can't offer technical help with this problem. However, rather than fighting problems trying to make the small screen work, why not install the large screen which should be plug-and-play? I would think finding a used one wouldn't be difficult.

That's part of the problem, I did find one for the customer but all the way from Estonia for $1200. He had already purchased 2 small screens and they are tested working. I agree with you but it would be great if this problem could be solved with just programming. Customer is OK with the smaller screen. The only other thing I can think of is that the hardware from the HUH - Head Unit High could be different.
