There may already be something like this, or maybe the i3 will be able to tell me but here goes .....

Over this Bank Holiday I’ve been visiting friends telling them about the possible imminent arrival of our i3 ...... they all live about 80 -100 miles away. I’ve been asking them if it would be ok if when we had the car if we plugged in whilst there for a top up.
All said yes (they all had power in the garage) but all said I hope it’s not too expensive ... I said not approx £2 -£4 for a complete fill up. They all looked in disbelief (a Petrol fill up is £60-£120).

So is there an App that you can set off when you plug in ......and then switch off when you unplug that shows how much in cost you’ve just used.

I’m sure if it was an “Official” APP it would be more easily believed than my back of a *** packet calculation.

Not that I know of, but you can easily calculate it yourself, especially once you've had the car for a while and have gotten more familiar with your energy usage.

Just like a gas car where you know how big your gas tank is, the i3 will only use about 20kWh's of it's 22 kWh pack so lets say you arrive at their house and your state of charge was 10% and you fully charged the car while you were there. You filled the battery with 18kWh's but there are also charging losses of about 10% for you to include so you really used about 20kWh's of their electricity to fill the car with 18kWh's. All you need to do is ask them what they are paying per kWh and do the math.

Wouldn't it be possible to just use one of those plug-in kWh-meters.
As long as your charging from a 230V connection it wouldn't be that hard I think...
Just do a google search for: plugin kWh meter
