hey all,

hoping to get some good advice around car care... got a week old i3 Rex, and would love any tips to how to keep it as fresh as possible!

Q: anything to protect the cloth seats? Scotch guard?
Q: anyone use the key fob cover?
Q: best solution for a frunk plastic case? (the bmw one seems too expensive)

+ I guess no oil changes, huh! I think I'm going to love this electric thing!

Funnily enough the oil in the gasoline-powered generator in the REX model does need to be changed every 12 months but that's covered under BMW's maintenance program.

The exterior is mostly painted surfaces, so your favorite wax and cleaner should work. If you have the light grey interior carpeting, it's a pain to keep nice and clean - good luck! I haven't done anything to m lodge interior (leather and wool), and so far, it still looks fine. If you have kids, that may not be the case, or, I suppose, if you eat in the car or have a dog.

The unlock button on the fob is right at the edge, and more than one person had it unlock (and lower the windows if pushed long enough) on their car when they didn't expect it, myself included. Since I have comfort access, I bought the fob cover and placed the fob in it backwards, covering the buttons, and I've not had it unlock or windows down since.

That's a good idea re: Fob. Can you still press the buttons if you ever need?

I might try Scotchguard on the cloth parts of the seats.

kids will be in it sometimes - but thankfully this is a 2nd car for my commute, so no excuse for me to be able to keep it hot dog free!
