Hi all,

The last 4 times I charged the car on a 400V charging point on my work it gives me a weird ( read long ) expected loading time on the dashboard. For example I plug in at 9.00 AM and then the dash read 8.00 AM the next day so almost 24u to load the car. But in the app it shows the correct loading time immediatly like 12.00 AM what is normal timespan to load on the 400V charge point. Now as a test I plugged in the 230V granny charger this morning at 9.00 AM and get the same long charging time on the dashboard, so it is not in the charging points, on the app it gives me 8.00 PM wich is normal loading time with the granny charger. The 12V battery has also been replaced and there are no other strange things or messages going on, only the charging time on the dashboard that is not correct.

Has anyone else had this before?

Perhaps on the dash it’s showing the next programmed departure time? That’s what mine has done recently as I’ve started using AC chargers, but I haven’t played around with the onboard charging settings very much yet.

I keep getting different times, all between 20 and 24 hours from the moment of loading. Tomorrow I will have to charge the car again and I am curious what I will see then. There are also no departure times set, but I will check this again just to be sure, thanks for this comment.

Oke, I'm about 3 chargings further and I still have this 'problem' , wen I just plug in the car, it shows times between 20 to 24h on the dash, even wen loading on a 11Kw charger. The app show the real time 3h15m. Am I the only one who have had this ?

Wild guess, but you plug in between 17:00 and -say- 20:00 hours? If it takes 3 hours and something to charge to full, the dashboard will show the clock time when it is finished, not the time that it takes to charge. So plug in at 17:00 with charging time of 3:15 hours will give you a clock time of 20:15 hours in the dash as the predicted time that the charging will be finished. Is the time setting in the iDrive set correct, maybe mixed up A.M. versus P.M.?

Dutchi3 , thanks for your response and sorry for my somewhat late reaction but I had not received a notification of your response. It has always worked correctly, I have the car for almost 6 years now. During charging it could deviate a little, sometimes 15 minutes earlier than was shown on the dashboard. But now it always predicts more than 20 hours of charging time regardless of whether I charge with the granny or an 11Kw charger. For example I plug in the car in the morning at 9u00 (9AM) and then the dash shows 6u00 (6AM) the next day. In the app it is displayed correctly, there must be a cause and I would have liked to know what of course. Just for information, my time setting is 24H and the time setting is correct in the iDrive.

You probably have scheduled departure times set. Even if preconditioning is disabled the car still shows the next departure time unless you totally disable all the scheduled times. It's either a bug or really dumb programming by BMW. I find it very annoying.

Thanks for your response and thinking along, unfortunately no departure time has been activated or programmed, to be honest I have never used that because I leave at random and have no fixed departure times. It must be a bug or something, it is not something that is insurmountable now because I do get the right information on the app and to go to a dealer with that and then spend money on it uselessly I do not want to do that. I had only hoped that someone here from the members had had this or heard about it.
