why not use a 60 or 85 kwh battery and extend the range to 370 km just like the Tesla instead of the 22 kwh with "only" a 190 km range?
Sales will be booming.

I think space (more space-bigger car), weight (batteries are heavy) and final price (batteries are expensive) of the car will be the main reasons.

That's a simple one. Because not many people can pay $72,000 (60kWh) or $82,000 (85kWh) for a car, and that's without adding any options and sales tax! Tesla makes awesome cars, but they are also awesomely expensive! Bringing electric drive with a good range at a price point that many people can afford is a huge challenge today.

Yep, old question. Because battery capacity is expensive (and heavy!), most carmakers have come to the conclusion that it's smarter to have just enough battery for 95% of the driving, and then cover the rest with either a REx (Volt, i3) or not at all.

Three years from now that might change, but TODAY, shorter ranges make sense. You're not just building a car to display at a car show, you're trying to build it at a price that people will actually buy.
