Hello

We purchased a 2016 i3 rex in May. There is mo mobility kit/tire inflator onboard. Went to the dealer and they said if it was not on the original invoice (NEW), it did not come with the car.

I find that to be a silly explanation. What am I supposed to do if I have a tire failure? Is the mobility kit standard equipment on all i3's in the US

Thanks for your help

Total BS from your Dealer. The mobility kit is standard 'mandatory' equipment on US i3's. Seems obvious that the previous owner removed it.

Go to https://decoder.bvzine.com, enter in your VIN, and it will list your equipment and options, one item should be 'S2VCA Tire Repair Kit'. Print out the list and show it to your Dealer.

If your Dealer won't provide a new one, you can get them on ebay.

Our 2014 U.S. i3 does not have option S2VCA Tire Repair Kit in option lists generated by 4 VIN decoder sites even though it was delivered new with this option. If this option is listed for your i3, what model is it?

How very odd! I ran VINs from several US i3's listed for sale, years 2014, through 2018, and from the 2015 model year on, the tire repair kit is listed as a factory installed option. But fort he 2014 model year, no listing for the tire repair kit. I wonder if for that first release year in the US, the kit was added at the US BMW Arrival Port Receiving Center, rather than at the factory.

Thanks. I did as you suggested and looked up my VIN. Sure enough it's a factory installed option. Will take a trip to the dealer decoder in hand.

I'm a little pissed, but Im in LA where BS is the go to response.

Thanks again!!

Mine was an end-of-lease return. Checking the maintenance history, the previous owner had a tire failure which I suspect led to the tire kit being 'lost.'

I replaced it with a 12V pump and a 'sticky string' plug kit. Although the 'sticky string' kit worked, twice, it was a pain to get it right. The rear tires were replaced after 34,000 service miles so I was able to document the sticky string repairs:

Unlike the liquid repairs, the sticky string removes the screw/nail and does not risk the tire pressure sensor.
