This isn't a "mod", but is something that I recently purchased and find extremely helpful for my i3:

Works very well! It is innovative, extremely well built using high quality materials, and works on both my i3 and my wife's 5 series. You can get jack pad adapters to work with most any unibody vehicle. It's not cheap, but It's the first time I've been able to get 2 wheels off the ground at the same time on either of or our Bimmers.

I should note one caveat: Because the i3 is so low to the ground I had to drive the wheel that I wanted to raise onto a 2x4 to give the needed clearance for my floor jack and the top bar of the jack stand. Not a big deal, but necessary. I could probably have also driven it part way up one of my ramps to provide the clearance.

FWIW: Here's another option that someone posted on a different forum. Even more expensive than the Safe Jack, and only available in pairs. But an intereseting option nevertheless.

Like you said, it's not cheap, but the ease of getting things done without relying on traditional jack stands is totally worth it. I had the same issue with needing a 2x4 or a small ramp to get the right height for my jack to fit. Definitely something worth considering if you're doing regular maintenance or mods!

Another expensive option is QuickJack. I have their 5000-TLX model and use it for my E61 wagon, E46, and i3S. I feel very safe under it and it lifts up all 4 wheels and gets the car almost 2 feet off the ground. It’s heavy to drag out and put under the car, but I’m happy to do it.

I second the QuickJack. I almost had a really bad outcome getting an E92 M3 on conventional jackstands. Went out and got the QuickJack right away. I was able to do rod bearings on the M3 with the QuickJack (need to drop the subframe).

You can find them at some Costco's and occasionally on sale.

I wanted to chime in since I’ve been using a similar setup with my i3 recently. I’ve been experimenting with scissor lifts and, like you, really value having the ability to lift both wheels at once. I don’t have the specific Safe Jack you mentioned, but I’ve been using a lift table with a good scissor lift feature to help with clearance on low vehicles like my i3. It's been a game-changer for working underneath without constantly worrying about balance. Like you said, it's not cheap, but the ease of getting things done without relying on traditional jack stands is totally worth it. I had the same issue with needing a 2x4 or a small ramp to get the right height for my jack to fit.
