Ok this is a first for me.

I3 Rex 2015 purchased January 2025.
Everything working although I don't recall using the heated rear window until I needed it (two weeks into purchase)and it is not working.
Downloaded the My BMW app at about the same time.
Remote heating worked a treat, then 2 weeks in and it turned into a mobile fridge. Actually feels like cooled air coming from vents.
Fitted Bimmerlink.
Did all the usual having done my research.
Checked all the fuses, including the hidden ones, and relays.
Removed fascia panel under dash, someone had been in before. Piece of metal fell out during removal, about 10 cm x 1 cm goldish in colour, slight bend like a spring?
Disconnected HV cable from 'kettle', no corrosion.
Was referred to an 'EV Expert'. One look inside the garage door and I walked away. I have no faith in 'experts' who don't confirm the customer complaint or history and instead go straight to ISTA.
I am aware that in certain driving modes the heated rear window and heating are disabled. This condition is with all three driving modes.
Cleared all profiles.
Range indicator reduces once I turn up heat.
The only common denominator I keep coming back to is the app.

Am I missing something obvious? Key settings?

Baffled, any help greatly appreciated.

Eoin

Hi Mondomensch,

one permanent code CB9517, I cleared historic codes 3 weeks ago nothing new since. No warnings on dash.

In UK, 3G has been switched off I believe, but 2G is still operational. Here's an extract from the Offcom regulator:
"The eCall feature in some newer models of cars also relies on a 2G roaming SIM. eCall is a button in cars that can be pressed by the driver or passengers in the event of an emergency. It is also automatically activated by the vehicle, for example, in the event of an incident when the airbags are deployed. Most cars and vans produced after 2018 have an eCall system installed – and these devices currently rely on 2G networks to make the emergency call".

Not sure therefore if our i3's now can just use the 2G network, which as I understand it will continue for a while but will also go by 2033 latest. (I think our smart gas & electric meters use 2G too, but might be wrong there).

Hi guys,

thanks for your input, much appreciated.

I don't believe this is an 2g 5g 3g issue because the app still remotely flashes lights, unlocks/locks etc, just no heating. Maybe I am wrong, but I am definitely cold!!!!
