The iREMOTE app can send address to my i3, but not the google map.

The i3 was in the dealership for 10 days and even after PUMA tix was generated, ultimately they blame it on Google since they say teh iRemote app "sending" works.

I wanted to find out how many have successfully set up their acct with the BMW Assist people ( address in all caps as the USERNAME used in the Google Send to car feature) and have been able to SUCCESSFULLY send a Google address to the car and retrieved it under MY MESSAGE in connect drive??

I suspect it is a systemic problem BMW will need to resolve with Google for i3 owners!

I just sent two separate addresses to the i3, one via iRemote.app, and the other via Gmaps. Both appeared in the Messages list about five minutes after sending.

The problem appears to be with your car or your Assist account. If you haven't done it already, select "Messages" in iDrive and then hit the option button on its controller. You should see an "Update Assist" line, or something comparable, in the list. Do that. I think this refreshes the handshake between the car and Assist servers. It's possible yours is hanging with Google. Or maybe your Assist credentials are wrong in Gmaps.

FWIW, my assist ID is my Assist email account and a password I chose — the salesman entered them at settlement. No all caps necessary.

Sounds frustrating. Good luck.

I sent the address to the car from a Mac web browser. In iRemote.app, I sent the address from a contact in the iPhone's address book — think the address has to be in your contacts, which is odd.

There is an app Send to Car (android, don't know if it's on iphone), when you install it you can send an address by "sharing" it through that app.

I've been using the Send to Car function with my E90 for years but it has been iffy since Google switched to the new Maps. It wasn't even in the new version for months. You had to revert to Classic to access it. Google finally enabled it in the new version over the summer but I've found it very flaky. Sometimes an address message will appear right away. Other times, there will be a lag of hours. Last weekend, I sent addresses for two CCS stations around 11 AM. Half an hour into the drive, they still hadn't shown up so resorted to voice recognition entry. I finally noticed the envelope icon had shown up when I was pulling into my home garage around 6 PM. Very frustrating. My account links to both the E90 and i3; I'm seeing the same erratic behavior in both cars. Definitely a Google issue, not BMW servers or your car.

If you call BMW Assist to complain about issues with i Remote or the flakiness of Maps Send to Car, as I've done several times, the rep will stress that you should use ALL CAPS for both user name and password in both the app and on Google Maps.

That makes no sense! Google passwords are case-sensitive, so entering one's Google password in uppercase would fail unless one's password is actually all uppercase.

Recently, I have successfully sent a couple of destinations to my car via Google Maps, but I don't know how quickly my car received these messages. However, a week or so ago, even though Google Maps reported the message as having been successfully sent to my car, my car never received it. So flakiness does exist.

Sorry for the hijack, but how does one delete an address from the iRemote app? I have tried swiping and tapping without any result.

Sorry, sloppy writing on my part. Didn't intend to imply that all caps applies to the Google username/password. Logging into Google is independent, of course. Once you're in Maps, you enter only your BMW Assist username to use Send To Car.

That's when the BMW Assist CSR's advice comes into play. They repeatedly have told me to enter my BMW Assist username in ALL CAPS. Same advice applies when logging into the i Remote app.

Personally I suspect it's a bit of a canard. I used Send To Car for years successfully with the lower case version of my BMW Assist username. But when the flakiness showed up and I called to complain, the first troubleshooting step was use ALL CAPS. Whether all caps is really needed or not is irrelevant. I learned long ago, you won't get anywhere trying to insert logic between CSRs and their call scripts.

In the app, you should be able to swipe left and delete favorites. Charging stations and Destinations need to be deleted in iDrive. Next time you update the app, they should disappear from the lists.
