My 2020 i3 goes off basic warranty in about six weeks. Have recently had brake fluid done and 12v battery replaced. Seat heater seems to work ok. About 40k miles.

Are there any checks I should perform for common issues before the warranty runs out?

Check to be sure that all recalls and service actions have been performed. I can't recall any that were issued since 2020, but maybe there are some.

Our 2019 U.S. BEV had the following performed under warranty:

SERVICE ACTION: PROGRAMMING THE TELEMATICS CONTROL UNIT - 3G SUNSET

To get the system software (a.k.a., integration level) update required to fix this, I complained about a sporadic loss of power steering:

SPORADIC REDUCTION OF STEERING ASSISTANCE

Both were fixed by increasing the integration level which cost nothing under warranty but that might not be cost-free after the warranty expires. BMW increased the warranty to fix the power steering bug to 10 years/100k miles, so theoretically this should be fixed at no cost after your warranty expires. However, expect a skirmish with a BMW dealer who isn't familiar with all i3 service actions. I printed a copy to submit when I delivered our i3 for service.

I think my my20 production date was mid 2020, so after the steering tsb production date interval. In service date was right at beginning of January 2021
