Gear problems after 12v battery change.

Hello!

My 2017 Bmw i3 was suddenly completly dead in my yard. I changed the dead 12v battery, has been in the car since it was new, and i measured it to 0v.

After i changed to the new fully charged one, the car doesnt want to enter park again. The «N» on the gear lever only flashes. When i try putting it in drive and give it gas, the whole car vibrates and doesnt move.

I did everything like i should with disconecting the high voltage battery before removal.

I have three error codes related to the car not going in park.

Hopefully someone here has experince with this?

When the 12v dies like this, it causes a lot of errors to appear in various modules. The car rarely works "fine" after simply replacing the 12v battery in these cases. When batteries first started failing on these cars, many owners found that simply plugging the car in to L1 or L2 charging and letting the car SIT for around 24hrs allowed the car to "magically" fix the problems.
If you choose to do this, when you first plug the car in, it will most likely NOT show that it is charging. Leave it alone, walk away and let the computer slowly talk to all the modules and reset them.

This has worked for many many owners in the past. It is not 100% but it beats getting it towed to a Dealer who clear codes and most likely do the same thing (leave it plugged in for 24hrs)

Thanks mate. I tried plugging it in the L1 charger, but it just stops and blinks orange. Should i just leave it like that?
