Anyone know how they'll emissions test the REx in the US?
Most states have emissions testing every one or two years. It involves warming up the engine and connecting test equipment to the ODB-II socket as well as an emissions probe placed up the tailpipe (Ouch!).
So the questions are this:
1. In the USA, there (apparently) is no way to turn on the REx unless the battery is below 5% SOC, and it turns off when the car is motionless. How then will an emissions inspector turn on the engine to get it warmed up to operating temps. so the test can be performed?
2. The "tailpipe" is quite hidden and difficult to reach. Will the probe even fit in there?
--Woof!
