Hey all;
Random Q; replaced my cabin air filters yesterday and not sure if i bumped something, but now my BMW iphone app not syncing w/ car. (Door locks, location not working). I reopened the plastic guard under the glovebox to see…but nothing appears amiss.

Any insight is appreciated.

It may vary depending on RHD or LHD, but is it possible that the small loudspeaker in the panel above the footwell is disconnected? I've heard that if the speaker terminals are open circuit it can affect a lot of things that need to use that sounder.

I'm going to guess that the cabin air filter replacement is just a coincidence, and your Connected App subscription expired yesterday.

I did try to call the cust service person (my subscription is paid till sept)..
He had me do some reset by pressing volume knob for 70 seconds .. didn’t work; then said i need to go to the dealer to fix..

I was having a recent issue with connected services car location not syncing with MyBMW app. Customer service said to try reset as described before and that seemed to fix things:

I'd never heard about this, so had never done it. I decided to select Update BMW Services even though everything seems to be working normally (probably should leave well enough alone). The reply was that data were being sent (which direction?). I didn't wait for this message to change before exiting by selecting the "OK" button.

A few minutes later, Update BMW Services was still an available choice which surprised me. A good UI design would not display that choice unless an update were available. I again selected it and the reply was the same, but the data update was completed in a few seconds (probably nothing really happened).

Do you know what BMW Services are? Are they not updated automatically? If not, BMW Services probably had never been updated in our 2021 i3.

My experience as well, I assumed wrongly that OK button was to perform any download. Waited for transfer message 2nd time before selecting OK. Certainly not a great UI design as you note - BMW designers should read these forums! No visible sign of any changes except that my location info now again appears in MyBMW app.

Folk wisdom - probably time for a cheat sheet. I hope you have already updated your LinkedIn profile as an i3 consultant!

Thanks for all the input. So strange that the “bmw assist”” menu is dark (unelectable) sometimes and selectable others..
does anyone think a disconnecting of the 12v battery and reconnecting might help?

I called the phone # again and the guy had me uninstall/reinstall my app; then said “take it to BMW dealer”. Would like to save myself $500 if all they’re gonna do is something simple like a battery unhook/reset
