I am considering buying a used BMW i3 94ah and would like to know what common and/or expensive potential problems I should be aware of when purchasing these cars. Any tips?

I have read that the motor mounts can be a weakness on the BMW i3, but does this apply only to the 60ah versions, or the 94ah as well?

2014-2015 i3's had a polymer motor mount bracket. One of its mounting bolts could sheer, or less likely, the bracket could crack. BMW fixed these problems in 2016.

The A/C compressor could fail with the rotating part interfering with its case resulting in metal particles being pumped through the refrigerant system. This could result in a repair cost that exceeds the value of an i3. The compressor being unusually noisy is a warning.

One of an i3's electronics modules could fail which could result in an expensive repair.

The REx model adds complexity and reduces reliability compared with the base BEV model.

BMW's slow, methodical development and alpha and beta testing of the i3 has resulted in one of the most reliable BMW's made if not the most reliable. We've owned a 2014, 2019, and now 2021 i3 BEV's and have never experienced an unexpected problem that required a repair.
