Hi,

During my recent 12v battery episode, I had to use the blue emergnecy release for the charge flap. Unfortunately when I pulled it the end came off and when I pulled the remaining blue 'cord' with some pliers that broke off and is not visible anymore. The charge flap now won't stay closed and I have a constant message telling me it's open. Any quick fixes for this? I'm not too concerned about fixing the emergency release at this stage, more just getting it to close/lock so I don't get the message and the flap openng itself while I'm driving.

Thanks,
Ted

I had to use the emergency cord when my flap wouldn't open for some reason and similarly could not get the flap to stay closed after that. I used a needle nose pliers to raise up the clasp that locks around the hook on the flap to hold it in place. That clasp was stuck in the open position, probably due to dirt or grime. Once I worked the clasp up and down a bit, it closed naturally and I haven't had a problem since.

Hmm, I've tried that wth a pick but it doesn't come far enough up to grip the flap. You can see the hook pull further in when it tries to lock but not holding at all. Any more ideas?

OK so sometimes you need to remind yourself not overlook the obvious. Actually it was the other pull cord that had broken - boot lid? The charge flap one was still pulled out a few inches. Pushed it back in and all is good again.
