I find it interesting to read the various comments but see similar problems popping up constantly, generally the heater malfunction is down to the actual heater . Non repairable and expensive simply not worth buying second hand due to the electronics being extremely complex.
Suspension gaiters another common problem, when jacking the vehicle up re the MOT the gaiters fail due to age .
Disc corrosion basically lack of use ,due to the recharging effect on the overrun reducing the need to use the brakes .
Ok negatives but an extremely economical vehicle to run and mechanically good .
Reading an article by one of the garages in London with regards electrical malfunctions the use of a code reader is really important but you must get the correct one for BMW vehicles. But I noticed some problems are not easily solved and trial and error is the only solution that is or can by extremely expensive, the code reader is easy to use for the DIY and a dongle for simple information eg the main battery SOH
state of health 1% loss per year,I am happy at that. Information on the Rex is a big advantage for me ,I was informed by BMW it was not possible to evaluate the use of the REX ,invaluable for servicing. As I tend to run my vehicles for years to get some value out of them I would consider buying an accident damaged vehicle and stripping for parts . They can be very cost efficient at the right price.
Having had a number of electric vehicles when you get into the basics they can be more efficient and easier to maintain than a petrol or diesel vehicle.
