Hi Folks, first post here. I'm thinking about buying a second hand BMW i3 REX 2016 model. very good price of €10K

the only concern I have is it has 174,000km on the clock.

the seller has also reported that the drivers heated seat is not working. I've no clue how much that would cost to repair and the BMW garage would not give me an estimate without see the car.

are there too many red flags here that it would not be worth parting with my money?

has anyone had and i3 with very high millage such as this and if so have you had any issues with it? have you noticed the battery runs down much quicker?

I bought my 2020 i3 with 109,000 miles and everything is working as it should. I had no concerns really as when talking about EV's, the HV battery is priority.

The dealer priced mine according to it's mileage, so I got a bargain I think. The battery still has over 98% health.

Here's one that had 128,000 miles.

thats great information thanks for your response. gives me some peace of mind.

anyone have any idea of what the min to max cost could be for the driver heated seats not working? i just need to get a feel for what the max it could cost me.

If you are handy with doing some repairs yourself and possibly saving a ton of cash, you might want to check this document out. Could be helpful and a possible solution.

Also, I seen a thread online that said they were quoted over $1K by BMW to fix the heated seat issue.

Plus, if the car is one that you really want, you can always investigate and sort the seat in the future.

The heated seat is a pretty standard problem. Kneeling on the seat can snap the elements within the foam. I will find a fixed price cost in the UK £ for a compare from an independent.

As to the mileage we have one member on our group in the UK who is well past 233,000 miles. 375,000km.

Just an update from the owner.

“Update to the group on my I3 journey with B8 PPX.
Yes mileage is 233k miles or 375k kilometers.
2014 Rex
Am still on a same set of factory brakes.
I regen every second I can.
Use a slow granny charger every night. Jaguar slow charger has been the most robust.
This morning car showed high mileage of 70 miles - Normally get 60+
No major issues to date.
BMW Shrewsbury have looked after the car all the way so far…so a very big thank you to them
🙌

Car is showing mild signs of wear and tear- ie leather seat torn by my trouser belt?
Leather Steering wheel needs replacing as worn.”

It’s so hard to say. My car had under 13,000 kms on the clock and the AC charging stopped working two months after I bought it. Luck of the draw. Do you get a warranty?
