Hi, I've had the i3 for almost two months, and I haven't had any problem with it until recently. Previously, the top of the battery range was solidly 85 miles when all four bars of the state of charge were filled. Now, mysteriously when it charges to 100% and all four bars are filled to the top, it says the range is only 75 miles. Has anyone had this issue? Thanks.

The range estimate, just like the mile to empty on an ICE, is dependent on many things, but on an EV, it's based on the last 18-miles you've driven and the current temperature. So, my guess is that unless you're in the southern hemisphere where winter is approaching, you're driving the car a bit more aggressively than you were, and the estimate is reflecting the current estimate. It does adjust as you drive since it's a moving average.

If you tell us where you are it may help as temp has a huge influence on predicted range.

I have one of the first 2014 I3's, has gone though one cold winter. Going if for the service soon, has not had the any updates for over 10 months. Its 70-80 degrees in Boston now and car only reports 64miles each full charge. Something is wrong, I have not seen 80miles since new. I hope the charger part recall and new updates gives me what I payed for.

You're reporting the range estimate, not your actual range, so the problem is likely with the range estimate rather than your actual range. A recent firmware update that you should get during your service call apparently improves the range estimate algorithm. But because your driving history will be deleted during this firmware update, you'll likely see high, unrealistic range estimates when you pick up your car. These estimates will return to reality after a bit of driving.

On a typical drive, what efficiency (mi/kWh) does your trip computer report? When you multiply your average efficiency by the usable battery pack capacity (18.8 kWh nominal), how does the result compare with your predicted range?
