22281C High-voltage power management: High-voltage system not started in spite of request

My car has been a paperweight in my driveway for more than a month now with a drivetrain malfunction error. The owner of the BMW shop I take my car in for service was very nice and actually stopped by my place on his way home from work with an official diagnostic device last week and got a reading. Title is the error code. They believe the 12v battery was not the issue and that there is a legitimate problem but they need to do more research. Any thoughts?
