Crossed into it as if it was nothing.

The i3 feels like it is engineered to last 40 years and a few million miles...

Electric motors can run for a very long time without any significant maintenance. Single speed transmission, not much to go wrong. Plastic body panels, aluminum structural and CFRP are very long lasting and don't rust. Assuming BMW's battery management works as planned, that will last a very long time. The 12vdc battery will die long before the main one, and that's small and easily replaceable. LED bulbs for the most part last 10's of thousands of hours. Change some wiper blades and the cabin air filter, service the brakes and tires and maybe shocks...not much else to go wrong. IMHO, it's a keeper until something else really tweaks my interest. It will have to be a significant improvement, as the current implementation works just fine for me!
