Successfully added Traffic Jam Assistant to US model -- interested in other people's experience with TJA

Out of interest, do you need the adaptive cruise control pack with its forward camera to fit the traffic jam assist? There’s seemingly not many i3’s in the UK with these. Reading this other post https://www.mybmwi3.com/threads/adaptive-cruise-windscreen.18961/ made me think of it.

    High Voltage Component Malfunction

That’s worrying for anyone considering a used i3, and not something they can really mitigate against

Anyone over 100k miles on their car?

This thread https://www.mybmwi3.com/threads/i3-motor-gearbox-failure-help.17395/ discusses lower design life in earlier i3’s.

Anyone over 100k miles on their car?

High mileage is discussed up in this other forum posting https://www.speakev.com/threads/whos-running-the-oldest-highest-mileage-i3.159585/ And here’s a couple of YouTube videos mentioning mileages over 100,000 miles And

Using Tesla Destination Chargers with an adapter for your i3?

I don’t know about using an adapter for Tesla destination chargers in the UK but here’s a Map of UK and European Tesla superchargers that are open to non Tesla drivers, including i3’s, using the Tesla app to control the charge.

Amazon battery source for i3 12v battery

What do you mean, “ coming up to that time”? Is there a typical 12v battery lifespan in the UK? Re fitting a Bluetooth battery monitor, do these not flatten the battery quicker as they’d be transmitting all of the time?

    Roof query

I’m still not certain what the panels are made from but from someone else’s link for another part I found this https://www.sytnerstevenagebmwparts.co.uk/a/BMW__i3/__11538130/Roof/41_2285.html

    Roof query

I forgot to also ask, does that front and two side panels come off for painting or other surface finishes. I have seen references to parts being stuck on by double sided tape. Or does the front panel pass under the windscreen? I’m just trying to get an idea of what work would be necessary...

    Roof query

I’ve been to see a UK four year old (2020 plate) i3 car at a BMW dealer, fitted with a sunroof and was surprised to see issues with the roof. The panel that crosses the car in front of the car has lots of marks on it, as if there’s a paint reaction going on. These extend to the forward...

Curb rash on the 429 style rims

My understanding is that diamond cut wheels can only be recut twice before too much metal is removed. Sometimes a wheel can have been repaired due to in transit damage before a car is even sold by the dealer so you may or may not be lucky.

Curb rash on the 429 style rims

I believe that it’s a diamond cut alloy so needs a specialist repair. Something like

The use of the Max Kappa figure is widely quoted as a measure of battery health but likely questionable at all times. If you look at the reply to viewers comments on this Wiseley Automotive video Wiseley respond with: the purpose of the Batt Kappa Max figure shown in the hidden menu is...

I’d suggest your initial best source of information is to watch the London based Wisely Automotive videos on YouTube. They have two different playlists covering the i3. https://youtube.com/@wiselyauto?feature=shared
